Carbon Dioxide Experiment

Last Wednesday, our class made Carbon Dioxide. We needed vinegar, bicarbonate soda, a cannister, experiment goggles, a plate and some water. To make the Carbon Dioxide you have to pour some vinegar into the cannister. After you have poured in the vinegar, you have to pour some bicarbonate soda on the inside of the lid. You also have to put some water on the bicarbonate soda to make it solid. When the bicarbonate soda is solid, put on your goggles so that you are ready to mix the bicarbonate soda with the vinegar. When you are ready, you have to put on the lid with the cannister and then turn the cannister upside down on the plate. Watch as the vinegar and bicarbonate soda mix to create Carbon Dioxide (there will be bubbles).

CSIRO visits our school again

dsc03057.JPGOn the 18th of June 2007, a scientist from the CSIRO came to our school to create some experiments. We made experiments that had to do with electricity and light. We used laser, a spectroscope, etc. Our instructor was lady named Lisa. She taught us how light can blind our eyes and told us about a variety of different lights. Some of the experiments we used included the amazing motors, magnified view, light up my life and sticky tube. My favourite was the magnified view where we had to use a magnifier to look at scorpions, sheep liver, garden spider, etc. When we finished each task, we had to write down the answer on the sheet that Lisa gave us. When our time was over we shared our answers with each other. Then we said our good byes to Lisa and then left to eat our lunch. Everyone enjoyed the day and they are all looking forward to the next CSIRO visit.

Magic Thinking Hats

                                                       thinking-top-hats.gif

These are the 6 thinking hats we use in our classroom. I am going to use them to think about Samorost!

Black Hat: Everyone didn’t get a chance to play and everyone didn’t contribute their ideas.

Yellow Hat: We worked as a team and then shared our ideas with each other.

Red hat: The game made us feel as if we were actually in the game.

Green Hat: We had a idea to make our own planet. We use old pictures from magazines then we pasted it on to a big piece of paper.

Blue Hat: We thought about what was going to happen on the next level.

White Hat: Samorost is a really fun game, although its really confusing.

Supremely Super Samorost Story

Over the last couple of days, we have been working on a game called Samorost. We have been writing loads of work about how Samorost works and what is it. I have written a pretty long story about what the last stage of Samrost is about but i am not going to write it all down. I am just writing the bits that I might interest you. Please read the story below. Enjoy and leave a comment.

Feeling dizzy and confused but helpless, i dangle through the mossy roots and branches  of the gnarled trees with an ancient and rusty ball attached to a old rusty chain making scraping sounds every now and then.

I try desperately to breathe but the air is infected from the mysterious look fungi and other plants.

I peer outside curiously but catiously for thing that might be helpful to save my planet from eternal doom and things that might look suspicious, probably containing traps.

That is all I got for now but i will put my whole story for you to see soon. Hope you had a good time reading!Samorost Flash!

Comments Going Wrong

As you see I do not have any comments on my 3 new post. This is because it has to be moderated , but i don’t know how to moderate. Please give me advice if you know how to moderate comments, which I tryed but doesnt work.

Alison Lester Visits Our School!

Last week, we had a author visit our school. Guess who? Alison Lester! Alison Lester is a famous author who has wrote many books such as Magic Beach and Are We There Yet? These books are all interesting but my favourite is Are We There Yet?

Alison Lester came to our school to film a video. I was included in the videos with many other students. She told us about how she got into writing, books that she wrote and very interesting pictures that she drew.

After she told us about those things, we then wrote a book ourselfs! We wrote about what we like to eat, what sports we play, games we play and things we do at school. We wrote a discrpition about it then drew a picture. I wrote about me playing Oz-Tag with my friends. Then we combined all our pictures and writing to create one awesome book.

All the students enjoyed the day because we had lots of fun writing. The only bad thing was that we had to stay in an extra 30 minutes!

Interesting Sentences On Samorost

Here are some interesting sentences i’ve created about Samorost. Leave a comment if you like them. :)

Roaming peacefully, the planet drifted calmly through the tranquility of space.

Floating through the isolation of space, the abandoned and lonely planet waits miserably for a friend to show up.

Drifting swiftly thorugh the wilderness of space, the haunted planet watches cautiously for its deadly nemesis.

First Impressions Of Samorost

dsc03026.JPGdsc03024.JPG

Samorost is a online educational game created by Analogik. The aim of the game is to try to get to the end. You have to go through all the stages by clicking on things that may contain clues and will get you to a new stage. The man in white is the one you have to use to save the planet.

You might think the game is a shooting game ( for me it’s space invaders) but when you play its no where near. It is a logical game where you have to find clues. It might be easier if you played with your class or with a group. If you would like a try at the game go to Samorost.

Good luck at playing and have loads of fun just like the Allstars did! Please leave a comment if you tried the game or if you want a question answered. Have fun! :)
