Crazy Chaos At Cross Country!

On the 16th of May, our school had our annual cross country race. It was a tiring day with everyone racing for glory!

There were many races from the 8 year old girls to the 12 year old boys. Many people achieved their main objective, finishing the race.

There were sparks flying all around when the houses had their war cry. The houses were Freeman (yellow), Newcombe (red), Frazer (green) and Bradman (blue).

Most people who came 1st or 2nd in their age race made it to the Zone Carnival, a more tough and competitive event. Many people who finished their race were really proud of all the effort they put in. CONGRATULATIONS to all those who attended the event!

2008 Annual Crazy Hat ‘n’ Hair Day

dsc04516.JPG     Today was our Annual Crazy Hat ‘n’ Hair Day! We dressed up in mufti and decorated our hair with extremely cool, funny and not to mention good looking accessories. We had a parade which included all 15 classes plus the teachers. After 7 classes paraded around the stage, we announced half the winners of the raffle.  Whoever was announced from the raffle was to go to the front of the stage and choose a chocolate prize.      dsc04529.JPG

After another 8 classes paraded, Mrs Penman and Mrs Bickerton announced the people with the most creative hair or hat from each class. The winner got a minor prize. The day was an exhilarating one with moments to remember.

Farewell Post To All

This year has been a wonderful year for me. Part of that reason was because I had my own blog. I’ve had many great experiences this year and I’m really looking forward for 2008 and its expectations.  I’ve had a lot of great achievements and highlights this year including me becoming a prefect and a peer mediator. Another great highlight this year was me making it into the PSSA boy’s soccer team and making it into the Zone Carnival which I was very proud of. I hope I will have another great year with Mrs. Pericles.

What Makes Me concerned?

My speech is about what makes me concerned. Well my answer is Global Warming. Global warming refers to the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected and its projected continuation. The Earth’s climate changes in response to external forcing, including variations in its orbit around the sun (orbiting force), volcanic eruptions, and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations.

The greenhouse effect was discovered by Joseph Fourier in 1824 and was first investigated quantitatively by Svante Arrhenius in 1896. It is the process by which absorption and emission of infrared radiation by atmospheric gases warms a planet’s atmosphere and surface. The temperatures will rise and snow will be a thing of the past. Kevin Rudd has signed and is trying to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. The only countries who haven’t signed the Kyoto Protocol are United States and
Kazakhstan.

If Global Warming isn’t stopped, then all coastal cities will be flooded. Global Warming affects me pretty dramatically because I always wanted to live a peaceful and happy life. This may not happen. To help stop Global Warming you can use an Energy Efficient light bulb. Thank you for listening to my speech. J

Yes, it was that time of the year again! It was time for the stage 3 camp! There was almost everything a camper would want. There was rock climbing, canoeing, archery and even a Water Slide!

The best activity in my opinion was canoeing. As I went under the cupboard to get my wet pair of shoes, something disgusting happened. A brown pair of underwear’s fell on me! Guess who it was? Clements! I ran away as quick as I could.

On the second night we had a Trivia Quest! We had to split into groups of 5 or 6. We then had to choose team names. Ours was ‘The Schwarzenegger’s’.  We were up against ‘The Master’s Of Disasters’, ‘The Bau Chika Wau Wau’s, “The Slayers’, etc. Who ever won the Trivia Quest won a prize each. And guess what? We won! That night we also watched a movie called Happy Feet. It was really funny.

On the third day we went to the Water Slide. It was about 30m slide. I had loads of fun. On my last turn I went with Ramiz. We made the biggest splash! After that we went to the hall to do Christian Discovery. We sang a song called John 3:16. After that we had lunch. We ate hamburgers and drank cordial. After we ate billabongs. After that we received our prizes. It was candy. I took the chocolate buds. I after it was time to leave. So if you ever get a chance to go camp, GO!

US Visitors - Americans Visits Aussies!

US Visitors - Americans Visits Aussies!Last week, a group of educators from the
USA visited our school to see how we use 21st century skills.Unlike other past visitors, we showed them what we do with technology ( not tell). People in our class had chosen a subject to present to the visitors. First, Momtahina and me did a presentation about why we blog. We also told the visitors about the applications we use to help us learn such as - MissionMaker and Toondoo.  After the presentation, the visitors walked around the classroom to speak to the kids and so the kids can show the visitors about what they where doing on the computer. After what happened, the Americans might’ve learned something from the Aussies ;). Hope the Americans will visit our blogs!

MissionMaker Story # 1

The Museum owner has just phoned me saying that there has been a burglary and that 3 of my inventions have been stolen. I then rush to the scene to find no trace of the burglar, not even fingerprints. I feel angry and I just want to scream out but I restrain myself. I then hear a faint screeching sound and see the silhouette of someone, could this be the burglar? It came closer and closer it looked like It had a gun, I was sweating, I was nervous. “Oh, glad to see you Thomas!” said the museum owner. “Oh, am I glad to hear your voice Patrick”, I said in relief. “I thought you were the burglar, Patrick.” “I thought you were the burglar!” Patrick  said. We both gave a sigh of relief. “Well Thomas, off you go, this might be the most important thing that you will have done in your life. Good luck and good-bye”, he said. “Thank you, and good-bye”, I replied.

And then I set out on a quest to find my artefacts….

Maths Presentation

Two weeks ago, our class had to do a maths presentation. We had to choose a maths subject that we weren’t good at. When we chose our maths project we had to learn more about it on the internet using activities on http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/.

The subject I chose for my maths presentation was area. We had to make a challenging problem to solve.

Mine was solving a square with 149 cm sides by 247 cm sides. To find the answer, you have to times the side with each other. So to solve my problem, I have to times 149 with 247. 149 times 247 will equal 36803. This is what I have learnt about area:

  • I have learnt that you have to times the sides (not plus the sides) to find the answer.
  • I have also learnt that area is easy and it doesn’t take much work!

So that is how you do area!
